We had to dig the youngsters out of their nest today just to look at them. While I was digging them out, I clearly expected to only find six, the amount I saw yesterday and no more. So I began taking them out and putting them in a box that had a towel in it. I took two out. Then two more. The next time I stuck my hand in the nest, I picked up the “remaining two.” Well, two didn’t come out. Three did! You can imagine my surprise when I was staring at my hand not knowing what to think! I put the three in and carried them up to the house. “You’re not going to believe this!” I told Dad, Mom, Lydia, Susanna, and my Grandma who is spending the week here from Kansas City. You can probably picture our surprise at that time. Dad said, “That’s a pretty big litter for her.” (referring to Bekah.) All the little ones look pretty healthy.
